    • Just three ingredients are needed to make this easy comfort dish! These tasty cheese quesadillas only require flour tortillas, grated cheese, and a small amount of butter.
    • Taco Bell is comparable, but it's better and equally quick. For a quick supper, it's simple to stop by the Taco Bell drive-thru, but preparing your own is far superior! This recipe tastes just like a Taco Bell cheese quesadilla, which is why I love copycat recipes.

    Ingredients and Substitutions

This cheese quesadilla only requires three ingredients

White marble counter top with ingredients to make easy cheese quesadillas
    • Butter is the finest option for quesadillas, but you may also use olive oil or cooking spray.
    • Shredded Cheese - I usually shred my own sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack.
    • Flour Tortillas - Flour tortillas are soft and will brown beautifully in the pan as the cheese melts. You can use any size wheat tortilla depending on how big you want your quesadilla. If you're using a burrito-sized flour tortilla, fold it in half instead of adding another tortilla. If you like, you can use corn tortillas instead.

    Instructions

    1. In a large skillet or griddle, melt half the butter over medium heat. Add one tortilla to the pan once the frothing has stopped.
Black skillet with melted butter in it
    1. Cover the entire surface with an even layer of shredded cheese.

    1. Place the remaining flour tortilla on top. Cook for two to three minutes. Cook the opposite side after adding the remaining butter.

    1. To make four wedges, cut the quesadilla in half using a pizza cutter and then in half again. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro or sliced green onion, serve with creamy Chipotle sauce, and dig in!

    Tips

    • Make your own cheese shreds! The cellulose coating on store-bought pre-shredded cheese keeps it from clumping together and hinders its ability to melt. For the greatest taste and texture, grate your own fresh cheese!
    • Serve with my Creamy Chipotle Sauce, which I make myself! My delectable 5-Minute Chipotle Sauce is the ideal dip for your quesadillas; just add a few minutes to your prep time to make it!
    • Add some zing! Use your preferred taco flavor or add a little kick by adding paprika, cumin, and chili powder as you place the cheese on the tortilla.
    • To feed your family, scale up this recipe! Although this recipe only makes one quesadilla, you may create as many as you like by doubling or tripling the quantity of each ingredient! Try a sheet pan baked quesadilla recipe, which lets you prepare multiple quesadillas on a baking sheet at once, if you're feeding a large group of people!

    The Best Cheese for Quesadillas

Quesadillas can be made with any type of cheese that melts easily. But you are free to use any combination of:

    • Chihuahua cheese
    • Oaxaca cheese
    • Both mild and sharp cheddar cheese are available.
    • Jack cheese with pepper
    • Mozzarella cheese
    • The Monterey Jack cheese

    Serve Quesadilla With

    • Chipotle sauce
    • Avocado sauce
    • Crock pot queso
    • Sour cream
    • Taco sauce or hot sauce
    • Salsa
    • Guacamole

    Variations

Feel free to alter these quesadillas' ingredients! A basic cheese quesadilla tastes great, but you may also include:

    • Vegetable fajitas
    • Seasoned ground beef
    • Ground turkey
    • Shredded chicken
    • Sautéed shrimp
    • chopped tomatoes
    • spinach
    • Black beans
    • The jalapenos

    Frequently Asked Questions

What cheese is best for quesadillas?

My favorite cheeses for quesadillas are Monterey Jack, Chihuahua, or cheddar, or a combination of the three. Use whatever melty cheese you happen to have on hand, but for the greatest texture, shred it yourself!

What do you put in a Cheese Quesadilla?

Usually, cheese quesadillas only contain cheese, but you may add everything you want! Some of my favorite additions are black beans, chicken, and vegetables.

How do you make quesadillas taste better?

It's great with butter, like most things in life! After you experience a quesadilla made with sizzling butter, you won't want to make it any other way! A quesadilla will cook well in a fry pan without butter. The butter gives it a deliciously crunchy texture in addition to adding flavor.

    Make-Ahead, Storage, and Reheating

    • Make-Ahead: Warm, fresh cheese quesadillas are the best. But you may prepare these about an hour in advance and reheat them right before serving.
    • Quesadillas can be kept in the fridge for up to five days if they are wrapped in aluminum foil or placed in an airtight container.
    • Reheating: Put the quesadillas in a skillet and cook them over low heat until the cheese is melted and the food is thoroughly heated. Alternatively, reheat these on a sheet pan in the oven at 350 degrees until thoroughly heated.
