- Tailorable toppings: This dish is excellent for accommodating finicky eaters or utilizing leftover ingredients because you can alter the toppings to your preference.
- Easy and quick: Dinner can be prepared in ten to fifteen minutes with an air fryer, which makes it a fantastic choice for hectic weeknights.
- Kid-friendly: French bread pizza is a simple and enjoyable way to get kids involved in the kitchen, plus they love pizza.
- Family favourite: A family staple that even finicky eaters like is pizza.
Main Ingredients
You just need a few basic ingredients to prepare my Air Fryer French Bread Pizza recipe.
- French Baguette: I used one big French banquette for this dish. Although fresh bread works best, you may also use sourdough or banquettes that are a day old. This dish is a terrific way to use leftover or stale baguettes. However, you may use any soft, round bread loaf if you can't locate it. You may use a gluten-free baguette to make this dish completely gluten-free.
- Olive oil: Brush the tops of the French bread with extra virgin olive oil or any other kind of olive oil you choose. Melted butter is an alternative.
- Italian seasoning: I use Italian spice for this dish, although dried oregano is also an option. Although it's not required, I like to sprinkle fresh basil on top of these pizzas.
- Pizza sauce: You can use your preferred pizza sauce, tomato sauce, marinara sauce, or barbecue sauce; I used a homemade pizza sauce.
- Mozzarella cheese: For the greatest bubbling and gooey cheese results, use mozzarella cheese. I use entire fresh mozzarella, but you may use shredded mozzarella if you'd like. Freshly grated mozzarella melts down better and typically tastes better, even if I'm all for convenience! Just mozzarella, preferably freshly grated, will do, but you may add some parmesan and/or asiago if you'd like. Dairy-free shredded mozzarella can be used for the dairy-free version.
- Pepperoni: I used standard pepperoni, but small pepperoni also works. Regular pepperoni or turkey pepperoni are the options available. I like the turkey pepperoni since it's healthier and gets just as crispy. Before placing them in the air fryer, leave them simple or top them with your preferred ingredients, such as pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, or peppers.
How To Make Homemade French Bread Pizza In The Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F For five minutes
- Make even sections out of the baguette. Make careful to cut each quarter evenly down the middle by cutting them lengthwise.
- In a bowl, combine the Italian seasoning and olive oil. Brush onto the halves of the baguette.
- To make the bread crisp, put the slices in the air fryer and cook for three minutes. You might have to work in groups.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the toasted baguettes.
- Over the sauce, scatter the cheese and Italian seasoning.
- Over the cheese, arrange the pepperoni.
- Cook for 4 minutes at 190°C/375°F, or until the cheese is bubbling and melted. Depending on your air fryer, you might need to cook them for a longer period of time; if so, I would check them after a minute.
Pro Tips
- To prevent the bread from becoming soggy, apply a thin coating of pizza sauce to preserve it crispy.
- To get an additional crust, air fried the French bread first, then the toppings.
- Compared to purchasing pre-shredded mozzarella cheese, shredding your own produces a creamier texture.
- For a crispier crust, cook in batches and avoid packing the air fryer too full.
Variations and Substitutions
I adore that pizza can be customized with your own toppings! The greatest toppings for french bread pizza are as follows:
- Pizza Sauce: I occasionally use red or green pesto in place of pizza sauce. This pizza is made in a different method, yet it tastes great too. Serve the pesto version with sliced kalamata or black olives.
- Mushrooms: My favorite technique to add mushrooms to pizza is to cook them beforehand, then add them right before the pie is placed in the air fryer.
- Meats: salami, shredded chicken, and cooked sausage
- Vegetables: bell pepper, banana peppers, and jalapeños, red onion, cherry tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, and olives
- Extras: spicy sauce, fresh spinach or basil, and grated Parmesan
- Chopped Peppers: You must chop the bell pepper carefully, but we prefer some finely chopped peppers on them. I prefer a combination of yellow and red peppers.
- Veggie Meat: These also go very well with veggie meats like sausage or pepperoni.
Serving Suggestions
I normally serve any kind of pizza with a simple green salad as a side dish.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
These French bread pizzas just take a few minutes to reheat and, like any delicious pizza, make excellent leftovers!
- In The Fridge: These French baguette pizzas keep well in the refrigerator for up to three days when stored in an airtight container.
- In The Freezer: Before putting the pizzas in a freezer-safe container, let them cool fully. For up to six months, keep in the freezer.
- Directions For Reheating: Simply place any remaining French bread pizzas in the air fryer and cook for two to three minutes at 380°F, or until they are reheated. If reheated from frozen, cook the pizzas for about five minutes at 400°F in an air fryer.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can, indeed. They can be prepared from frozen and typically require 7 minutes at 200°C (400°F). Place them on the tray located at the bottom of the air fryer basket after making sure.
Before adding the pizza bread, warm your air fryer to achieve a crispy texture. Additionally, avoid using too much sauce as this may result in a soggy pizza.
Naturally, this dish calls for no raw meats. All meats must be cooked through before being added to your pizza.
These are best cooked fresh, in my opinion, but if you'd like, you may prepare all the ingredients the day before.
Any leftovers can be kept in the fridge for up to three days after being wrapped in aluminum foil. Reheat the remaining slices by unwrapping the aluminum foil and placing them in a 400° toaster oven for approximately 15 minutes (or longer, depending on your oven).
