Main Ingredients
For this air fryer french bread pizza, we're sticking with classic cheese and pepperoni and using basic ingredients. This is what you will require.
- French bread. For French Bread Pizza, French bread is the logical choice. However, a small baguette or Italian bread also works well.
- Pizza sauce. Since this recipe is simple and quick to prepare, I always buy pizza sauce. Use your preferred marinara, tomato, or pizza sauce. I use this sauce for my homemade pizzas, but you can make your own if you'd like.
- Mozzarella cheese. For the greatest bubbly gooey cheese results, use mozzarella cheese. I use entire fresh mozzarella, but if you'd rather, you may use grated mozzarella.
- Olive oil with Italian spice. Garlic powder and Italian seasoning enhance the flavor of everything, especially French bread pizza made in an air fryer. You can add them to the sauce or replace them with dried parsley or oregano of your choosing.
- Toppings. Add cooked sausage, pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, or any other pizza topping you like.
How To Make Homemade French Bread Pizza In The Air Fryer
Turn the air fryer on. Set the air fryer's temperature to 375°F to begin. As shown, cut each half of the loaf into three pieces after slicing it in half lengthwise. Press down on each piece of bread until it approaches the 1-inch thickness if it is more than that.
Get the French bread ready. Cut the bread lengthwise in half. Verify that every component will fit in the basket of your air fryer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you might need to cut the bread into smaller pieces or trim it down to fit.
Make the bread toasty. Brush the cut-side of the french bread pieces evenly with a pastry brush.
Put the garnishes on. Now, cover the toasted baguette with pizza sauce, and then top with cheese and any additional toppings. Place the topped bread in the air fryer basket in a single layer after scattering the dry oregano on top.
- Cook. Cook at 190°C (375°F) for 4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Depending on your air fryer, you can require a longer cooking time. They will be quite hot, and the air fryer basket will be hot as well, so take caution when taking them out. Continue with the remaining bread.
- Cool and serve. If using, add basil after seasoning with salt and black pepper. They will be hot, so let them cool a little before eating.
Variations and Substitutions
Here are some ideas for adding variations to your delicious french bread pizza:
- Pesto with Olives: I occasionally use red or green pesto in place of pizza sauce. This pizza is made in a different method, yet it tastes great too. Serve the pesto version with sliced kalamata or black olives.
- Mushrooms: My favorite technique to add mushrooms to pizza is to cook them beforehand, then add them right before the pie is placed in the air fryer.
- Garlic bread: You can prepare garlic bread to go with your pizza if you have extra French bread.
- Dipping sauce: For your pizza, ranch dressing, marinara sauce, or garlic aioli are all excellent choices.
