This Homemade Boom Boom Sauce is a mayonnaise-based sweet and spicy sauce that is incredibly addicting. Although it works well as a dip for chicken tenders or crispy fries, my favorite application is as a coating for fried shrimp. It can be spread on your favorite foods or used as a dip or drizzle.

What is boom boom sauce? Boom boom sauce is an amazing dipping sauce that's ideal for dipping chicken tenders at your upcoming football party or family game night! It has a little spicy taste along with a sweet and tangy flavor.

It has a mayo basis and tastes spicy, garlicky, and tomatoey. It tastes great on chicken tenders, burgers, and even as a prawn dip! Naturally, dipping your french fries in it is the traditional way to consume it.

You may adapt the recipe to your own dietary needs, which is why I adore it. For instance, vegan mayonnaise is an option if you're a vegetarian. If you're on a Paleo or Keto diet, you can also use avocado mayonnaise.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Perfect Flavor Balance – Sweet, spicy, and tangy, this sauce is perfectly balanced. The creamy base (most often mayo) mellows the heat from sriracha or any hot sauce, and a bit of sweetness (sugar or honey) brings all the flavor into balance, so every mouthful is a thrill.
    • Versatile – Use it to drizzle over, fries, burgers sandwiches, tacos, grilled chicken, shrimp, and even veggies It’s a great dip for pretty much anything, so naturally it’s a mainstay for not only snacks and meals, but also party platters.
    • Easy to Prepare — Who needs complicated techniques or rare ingredients? Made with just a few pantry staples — mayonnaise, ketchup, garlic powder, and hot sauce — you can whip it up in 5 minutes, tops. No cooking needed!
    • Customizable — Want it spicier? Add extra hot sauce. Sweeter? A little bit of honey does the job. Tangier? A drizzle of vinegar or lemon juice brings it up a notch. It also means that you can adjust it to your own taste, which is really why I think it’s my favorite every time.

    Main Ingredients

This boom-boom sauce is so simple to make and won't require much to make.

ingredients for boom boom sauce on countertop, labeled.
    • Mayonnaise. Mayonnaise, the creamy foundation of the boom boom sauce, adds a richness, acidic flavor, and a smooth texture that counteracts the heat.
    • Sriracha sauce. While this sauce is great on its own, you may want to add a bit extra spice.
    • Ketchup. A traditional condiment that gives the sauce a hint of sweetness, acidity, and depth. It also aids in counterbalancing the other components' spiciness.
    • garlic powder. If you want to tone down the spiciness, add extra garlic powder.
    • Onion Powder. If you enjoy garlic and want a strong garlic flavor, use freshly minced garlic.
    • Black pepper, and salt. I prefer to season with Kosher salt and fresh black pepper.
    • Sweet Chili Sauce (Optional). This adds a little more sweetness and spice. To keep things interesting, you may use any brand or flavor you like.
    • Cayenne Pepper. Cayenne is one of those spices that has such a great contrast to the sweetness going on in the sauce that the two balance each other perfectly.

How To Make This Boom-Boom Sauce

    1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients and whisk to combine.

    1. To let the flavors combine, cover with plastic cling wrap and refrigerate for approximately half an hour.
    1. Savor it as a spread for burgers and sandwiches or as a dipping sauce for anything fried!

    Variations And Substitutions

    • Make it spicy. To make the sauce extremely hot, add an additional ¼ teaspoon of cayenne and extra sriracha.
    • For a delicious twist on this entertaining sauce, substitute Garlic Chili Sauce for Sriracha Sauce.
    • Vegan. Use vegan mayonnaise to make Vegan Boom Boom Sauce.
    • Different spices. To the sauce, add a dash of curry powder. I realize it sounds strange. However, it tastes really good.
    • Prepare the salad dressing. Use milk or buttermilk to thin some sauce until it has the consistency of dressing. The sauce's heat, acidity, and hint of sweetness combine to create a fantastic salad dressing, particularly when paired with chopped chicken tenders.

    Storing Leftovers

Boom boom sauce is really easy to store. You will have a delicious sauce to use throughout the week if you store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container. You can keep it for up to 5 days.
