This Garlic Parmesan Sauce is creamy and tasty! It takes about 15 minutes to prepare. It can be made anytime to serve with pasta, dip, drizzle, or top pizza. This recipe is ideal for hectic weeknights. Mix this sauce with your favourite pasta and enjoy.

Around here, we adore a good cream sauce for entertaining and weekend dinners. This mildly flavoured garlic parmesan cream sauce goes well with pasta, vegetables, and protein.

Additionally, because this sauce is so rich, it works best with recipes that are a little simpler. Serving this with steak, potatoes, and roasted vegetables.

However, it tastes fantastic with pasta, sautéed chicken or shrimp, and roasted vegetables. This simple and quick sauce is one of my favourite things to make for parties and is also suitable for at-home date nights without requiring much time spent in the kitchen.

    • Strong flavours—cheesy, incredibly thick, and creamy

    Ingredients and Substitutions

This garlic parmesan sauce is made up of only a few basic components. The top players are as follows:

White marble counter top with bowls of ingredients to make Parmesan garlic sauce.
    • Butter: gives it a deep, buttery taste. To manage the flavour, use unsalted butter. To make it dairy-free, use vegan butter instead.
    • Garlic: One of the key ingredients in this dish is garlic; for optimal flavour, I strongly suggest using freshly smashed garlic cloves. Fresh minced garlic has the strongest flavour.
    • Italian seasoning: I adore the flavours that the Italian herbs bring.
    • Flour: To make a roux, add the flour. This makes the sauce thicker.
    • Vegetable Broth: serves as the liquid foundation.
    • Heavy Cream: increases the sauce's richness.
    • Parmesan Cheese: Use a block of freshly grated cheese for optimal flavour and texture. Pre-shredded cheese has additives that keep it from melting, giving it a dry taste and texture.
    • Parsley.

How to Make Garlic Parmesan Sauce

    1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the Italian seasonings and garlic. Cook for 1 minute.
    2. Add the flour and whisk until a paste forms.
    3. Add the broth gradually while whisking continuously to ensure it is smooth and well blended.

    1. Bring to a moderate simmer over medium heat, and it will thicken.
    2. Combine the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, and parsley. Whisk and heat until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
    3. Add salt and pepper to taste and adjust to your preference.

Ways to Use Garlic Parmesan Sauce

You may wonder what foods go well with garlic parmesan sauce if you've never tried it. Fortunately, I have some fantastic ideas you can use to enjoy. I can't wait for you to try this sauce recipe, it's a keeper!

    • Fries: It works well as a drizzling or dipping sauce. Try it with my Air Fryer Cheesy Potato Wedges or Frozen French Fries In The Air Fryer.
    • Chicken: Enjoying this sauce with wings is a no-brainer, but it would taste fantastic with any chicken. Chicken can be roasted, grilled, fried, or shredded.
    • Pasta: Pasta perfection! Combine it with tortellini, ravioli, gnocchi, or noodles to create a creamy treat akin to Alfredo sauce.
    • Pizza: It will undoubtedly taste great whether you use it as the base for your pizza or substitute it for ranch for a dip.

    Tips

    • Before serving, let the sauce rest in the fridge for at least half an hour. Although it's unnecessary, I can tell you from experience that the sauce's flavour intensifies over the first 30 to 2 hours of refrigeration.
    • You may keep this sauce in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Since the sauce is dairy-based and will change texture when defrosted, I do not advise freezing it.
    • While the sauce is refrigerated, it thickens. It will become less thick and soften at room temperature if you leave it on the counter for ten to fifteen minutes.
    • Replace fresh garlic with roasted garlic to enhance the flavour even further.
    • Use ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper or ½ teaspoon for hot sauce flavour.
    • For the smoothest sauce, use freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Freshly grated parmesan is the best option for this dish, although pre-grated cheese will still work.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sauce the same as Alfredo sauce?

No, garlic is not a component in traditional classic Alfredo sauce. White wine isn't typically added to Alfredo sauce, but it gives depth to my garlic parmesan cream sauce. Nonetheless, a lot of store-bought white sauce brands refer to their "alfredo sauce" as garlic parmesan alfredo sauce. Technicalities are actually all that are involved.

What can I use instead of heavy cream?

Nothing can effectively replace heavy cream and produce the same intensely creamy effect. To thicken the garlic butter mixture, you can add 1 tablespoon of flour and boil it with half and half or whole milk. This will produce bechamel, a garlicky white sauce that isn't a cream sauce. A small amount of cornstarch combined with water can be added to the sauce to thicken it to your preferred consistency if it isn't thick enough.

Why is my cream sauce broken, or separated?

When there is insufficient liquid remaining to maintain the fat emulsified, the result is a fractured cream sauce, also known as separated. Adding a little extra heavy cream is the easiest method to re-unify the sauce. Try half and half, whole milk, a little white wine, or water if you don't have cream. Remove the sauce from the heat and whisk in enough liquid to re-unify the sauce.

What is garlic parmesan sauce made of?

Butter, heavy cream, garlic, flour, herbs, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper are the ingredients of garlic parmesan sauce. To create a creamy spread or dipping sauce, all the components are mixed together and heated.

    Make-Ahead, Storage, Freezing, and Reheating

    • Storage: It's really simple to store leftover garlic parmesan sauce. Store it in the fridge in an airtight container to use the delicious sauce throughout the week. I adore it!
    • Refrigerating: You can keep leftovers in the refrigerator for up to five days if you put them in an airtight container. Before using, please give it a brief swirl because the ingredients could separate while it sits.
    • Reheating: slowly is essential! Stir frequently and use low temps. Slowly whisk it back together over low heat on the stovetop if it begins to separate. This sauce should not be microwaved. It separates as easily, if not more so, and gets greasy.
    • Prepare Ahead: This sauce can be prepared up to a week before! I prepare a batch every few weeks and store it in the refrigerator for those hectic evenings when we need a simple spaghetti dish for supper.
